Black Star Choral Meet
Introduction
Over the past decade, Ghana has witnessed a remarkable growth in institutional choral music. Across the public and private sectors, many organisations have established their own choirs, primarily to support internal events such as end-of-year celebrations, Festival of Nine
Lessons and Carols services, anniversary commemorations, thanksgiving ceremonies, and other corporate occasions. These choirs have become important platforms for promoting teamwork, employee engagement, organisational identity, and cultural expression.
While this growing tradition has enriched the internal culture of many institutions, there has been no national platform dedicated to bringing these choirs together to celebrate excellence, foster healthy competition, encourage musical development, and showcase their
talents to a wider audience. As a result, many outstanding institutional choirs remain known only within their respective organisations, with limited opportunities for national recognition,
collaboration, or artistic growth.
